Erik Rivers

Erik Rivers is a singer-songwriter based in Maui, Hawaii who weaves fingerstyle guitar and evocative lyrics to create captivating  folk and experimental music. He is currently performing around Maui, as well as self-recording and releasing his original singles and music videos. His music will soon be available on all streaming platforms and available for purchase along with his art in his online shop.

Erik’s love of music began in utero, listening to his mother play piano. His appreciation of music continued to grow as a child, listening to his grandparent’s records and experimenting on the piano. He would soon begin guitar lessons and discover songwriting as an invaluable tool for expressing and understanding his inner world. By his early 20’s, songwriting had blossomed into his greatest passion along with creating visual art. 

Erik went on to study graphic design, fine art, and music, and nursing in college. He eventually began his study of classical guitar, which formed the foundation of his fingerstyle technique. 

In 2014, Erik experienced a significant illness, which caused him to re-examine his life and choose to follow his passions with greater commitment. He processed this challenge through the creation of his music and art.

The depths of the human experience and the profound beauty of nature serve as Erik’s muses in his songwriting process. He continues to build his connections with the local community while reaching out to a wider audience online.
